PROGRAM SERVICES OVERVIEW
PRE-VOCATIONAL AND PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS TRAINING:
Students learn the basic principles of Digital Photography and learning how to taking great photographs with instruction from seasoned and prominent photographers to include learning camera parts and functions; usage of the memory card; saving and storing images; framing; downloading images from the camera to the computer; printing photographs for development of a personal portfolio; job development to assist students in exploring competitive employment options of their choice and field trips to sites of interest in Washington DC as a part of instruction and hands-on practice. Students will have the opportunity to exhibit photographs selected from their portfolio.
This training will also provide the students with skills to access employment as a photographer for conferences, family events, community events and photographing for ID Badges and passport photos.
PRE-VOCATIONAL AND CULINARY ARTS TRAINING:
The students learn the basics of food preparation to include shopping from a menu, portion control and customer service. The individuals may not be interested in a career in foods services, but they can use the skills in their everyday lives.
New Vision One Stop Employment Program:
New Vision One Stop Employment Program
is designed to allow referring students access to a wide range of employment services. The program is equipped with state-of-the-art personal computers with the accompanying software, an industrial copying machine, fax machines and telephones for providing office skills and customer service training.
New Vision One Stop Supported Employment Program:
New Vision Photography Program, Inc. supported employment and long-term follow-along services will refer students for competitive employment opportunities at or above the minimum wage. New Vision Photography Program, Inc. will provide on going individualized support to each student based on his/her needs. Professionally trained staff will assist students with exploring employment opportunities in the photography industry as well as other vocational interests. Staff will also provide the necessary support such as a job coach to assure the student’s success in their employment. Resume software will be available to assist students in developing resumes and cover letters and to provide assistance in preparing for interviews.
NEW VISION OFFICE SKILLS PRE-VOCATIONAL TRAINING & SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT:
The objective of this program is to increase program participants’ knowledge and skills base for careers in the administrative office and clerical industry. New Vision Office Skills Training Program has a computer lab with current software, an industrial copying machine, fax machines and telephones for customer service training. Supported Employment program services are designed to place program participants into administrative/office industry competitive employment at or above the minimum wage.
CULINARY ARTS PROGRAMS:
The culinary arts program is a full service curriculum where individuals learn the basics of owning and operating a restaurant. Students participate in developing the menu, preparing fresh baked goods, shopping, stocking, and sales. Students are introduced to new exciting recipes while learning how to create a balanced nutritious meal.
